Description
Over the past two decades, there has been an explosion of research on future thinking. It is now well-established that future simulation is strongly associated with the ability to remember the past, both in terms of common reliance on the default mode network and parallel declines in both functions (e.g., in aging and depression). Nevertheless, there are also unique neurocognitive demands associated with future thinking. In this talk, I will present research showing evidence for the role of schema in constructing future events, as well as some recent studies on other forms of prospective cognition.
