Areas of Interest

I study self-consciousness as "cultured" subjectivity. This involves exploring how our experience of individuality and personhood is conditioned by the symbols, practices, and institutional relations of our society. I am especially interested in how these contingencies of identity are reflected in our understanding of and relations with others. My secondary interests include metapsychology and, more broadly, the philosophy and politics of science.
