Biography

Melanie Cohn is a Clinician Investigator at the Krembil Brain Institute, part of Toronto Western Hospital UHN. At the core, her work bridges experimental and clinical cognitive neuroscience. As a Clinical Neuropsychologist, she diagnoses cognitive deficits in various neurological populations, and assesses the cognitive risk of neurosurgical treatments such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) in Parkinson’s disease. On the research side, she primarily investigates episodic memory and its brain substrates, with an emphasis on associative memory and the hippocampus. She also examines social cognition and psychometric properties of cognitive tools. Melanie uses behavioural paradigms as well as neuroimaging techniques in healthy individuals and people with neurological diseases. She collaborates on multidisciplinary studies involving neuroimaging diagnostic tools and neuromodulation (DBS). Melanie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Graduate Department of Psychological Clinical Science at the University of Toronto.
