Elizabeth Page-Gould

Elizabeth Page-Gould is a Professor of Psychology and the Canada Research Chair in Social Psychophysiology at the University of Toronto. She researches how social interactions with friends and strangers shape experiences in diverse societies, with a focus on the role of stress in social interactions, friendship, and individual thriving. Dr. Page-Gould’s research employs multiple methodological approaches, integrating across physiological, behavioural, and subjective (self-reported) data collected from multiple people at once to develop a rich picture of social interactions. Moreover, she has developed open-source tools that enable other researchers to use methods such as “experience sampling” (Thai & Page-Gould, 2018) or specialized statistical analyses (Lu, Page-Gould, &, Xu, 2017) that would otherwise have been inaccessible to them.

Dr. Page-Gould’s research with her former postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Cara C. MacInnis, received the highest international award in her field, the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize, in 2016. Dr. Page-Gould is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science, the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and the Society for Experimental Social Psychology. Many years ago, she was also named a “Rising Star” by the Association for Psychological Science and she received the Early Researcher Award from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. She has served as an Associate Editor for top journals in her field, such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, in addition to serving on numerous Editorial Boards. Dr. Page-Gould was also elected to the Board of Directors for the Society for Psychophysiological Research and is the Past Chair of the Social/Personality Section of the Canadian Psychological Association. Dr. Page-Gould contributed to graduate training in the field by organizing the methodological training and professional development workshops as the Methods Chair for the Association for Psychological Science Program Committee for 5 years.

Dr. Page-Gould currently serves as the Chair of the Graduate Department of Psychology, which provides the graduate program for the three Psychology Departments at the Mississauga, Scarborough, and St. George campuses of the University of Toronto.
