Paul Whissell

Dr. Paul Whissell is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream (CTLA) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto (St. George Campus). The body of his work explores the complex but fascinating intersection between Psychology, Physiology and Neuroscience. Though he has a great fondness for all aspects of Psychology, he currently specializes in studying the neural mechanisms of thought and behaviour. Through his teaching program and research career, he has examined the neural basis of psychological disorders, altered states of consciousness, drug effects and learning. In the Psychology department, he regularly teaches Introductory Psychology (PSY100), Behavioural Neuroscience (PSY290), Behavioural Genetics (PSY390), Neurochemical Basis of Behaviour (PSY396) and Cognitive Neuroscience (PSY493). In addition to these content-based courses, Dr. Whissell has taught a variety of courses on research methods, science communication and the interaction between science and society. He is an enthusiastic participant in the University’s many mentoring and pedagogical development programs.
