Anna Kosovicheva
Dr. Kosovicheva received both her BA and PhD in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. After completing her PhD, Dr. Kosovicheva spent several years in a postdoctoral position at Northeastern University, where she researched questions in visual localization, eye movements and impairments in binocular vision. She joined the department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga in 2021.
She is a director of the Applied Perception and Psychophysics LaboratorY (APPLY) at UTM, which focuses on the application of vision research to real-world problems. Her research focuses on questions of spatial vision, binocular vision and eye movements. Dr. Kosovicheva is particularly interested in visual localization (how we know where things are in the world), and how the visual system determines perceived position under conditions of uncertainty. She also studies deficits in binocular vision, particularly amblyopia and strabismus, and applies methods from visual psychophysics to improve the assessment of visual function in populations with visual impairments. The lab is also interested in questions of perception in everyday tasks such as driving and reading.
