November 19, 2025 by Michael Pereira

Professor Elizabeth Page-Gould has been elected to serve a three-year term as the University of Toronto’s SSHRC Leader.

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) is the federal research funding agency that promotes and supports research and research training in the humanities and social sciences.

The SSHRC Leaders network provides a bridge between postsecondary institutions across Canada and the funding agency and helps shape the development of SSHRC policies and programs. Twice a year, Page-Gould will represent the university to policymakers in Ottawa while also serving on U of T’s Research Advisory Board. As part of this work, she will be working closely with a secretariat in the Office of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation.

“I am very excited for this role, as I can only imagine that I am going to learn an immense amount, and I will have the opportunity to speak directly with the people making funding decisions,” Page-Gould says.

Page-Gould will be in Ottawa this month for her first meeting as the university’s SSHRC Leader.

Professor Page-Gould is the Chair of Graduate Department of Psychology, and leads the Social Psychophysiological Research & Quantitative Methods Lab (SPRQL)
